The 2026 World Cup will be played under the joint hosting of three countries for the first time in history. 16 stadiums will take part in the tournament to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The USA has the highest share with 11 stadiums in this structure, while Mexico will participate with 3 and Canada with 2 stadiums. This number reached almost twice the nine stadiums of the 1994 USA World Cup. In the expanded 48-team tournament, a total of 104 matches will be played and this number will be the highest match number in World Cup history.
Stadiums in the United States
MetLife Stadium — New York/New Jersey: The stadium with 82,500 spectator capacity will host the World Cup final on July 19, 2026. This venue, also known as the home of New York Giants and New York Jets, will host the most important match of the tournament. The final match will be watched by billions of people worldwide.
AT&T Stadium — Dallas: With 92,967 spectator capacity, one of the largest stadiums of the World Cup. The 60-metre giant screen of the stadium owned by the Dallas Cowboys will constitute one of the most visually impressive points of the tournament.
SoFi Stadium — Los Angeles: The modern stadium, home to Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, can hold 70,240 spectators. It will host an important part of the USA Pacific coast matches.
Hard Rock Stadium — Miami: Home of Miami Dolphins with 65,326 spectator capacity. It stands out as one of the venues that will most intensely receive the support of Latin American teams.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium — Atlanta: Modern stadium with closed roof that can accommodate 71,000 spectators. This venue, which hosts Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, will take on an important role in the southeast wing of the tournament.
Lincoln Financial Field — Philadelphia: The stadium, home to Philadelphia Eagles, has a capacity of 67,594 spectators. It will be used for east coast matches.
NRG Stadium — Houston: The 72,220-spectator stadium of Houston Texans. With its closed roof structure, it has a location that will not be affected by summer heat.
GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium — Kansas City: Kansas City Chiefs' legendary stadium has a capacity of 76,416 spectators. It will host open-air matches.
Levi's Stadium — Santa Clara (San Francisco): Home to San Francisco 49ers, it has room for 68,500 spectators. It will serve in west coast matches.
Lumen Field — Seattle: 68,740 capacity home of Seattle Seahawks and Sounders. It will be the centre of Pacific Northwest matches.
Gillette Stadium — Foxborough (Boston): The stadium of New England Patriots can hold 64,628 spectators. It will contribute to the tournament in the northeast wing.
Stadiums in Canada
BMO Field — Toronto: 30,000 spectator capacity was expanded to 45,000 for the World Cup. The stadium known as the home of Toronto FC will host an important part of Canada matches.
BC Place — Vancouver: Modern stadium with 54,500 spectator capacity and closed roof. It is known as the home of Vancouver Whitecaps. It will be used for Canada matches on the Pacific coast.
Stadiums in Mexico
Estadio Azteca — Mexico City: The legendary stadium with 87,000 spectator capacity will host the World Cup opening match on June 11, 2026. This venue, where the 1970 and 1986 World Cup finals were played, will witness a World Cup opening for the third time. This record is not found in any other stadium.
Estadio BBVA — Monterrey: The 53,500-spectator capacity modern stadium of Rayados Monterrey. It will be used for matches in northern Mexico.
Estadio Akron (Estadio Chivas) — Guadalajara: Home of Chivas Guadalajara that can hold 49,850 spectators. It will contribute to the tournament in the central-western region of Mexico.
The structure of the tournament will work as follows: The opening match will be played at Azteca on June 11, 2026, the group stage will be completed between June 11-27. Last 32, last 16, quarter-final and semi-final matches will be distributed to different stadiums. The final on July 19, 2026 will be held at MetLife Stadium. The third place match will be held at Hard Rock Stadium on July 18, while opening group matches will be played simultaneously at Azteca, BMO Field and several USA stadiums. This structure makes the tournament the most comprehensive World Cup history both geographically and in terms of spectators.
