A steady march towards a historic milestone continues in women's tennis. Aryna Sabalenka continues to hold the WTA world No. 1 ranking as she approaches 100 weeks at the top; she also leads the 2026 US Open main-draw entry list.
Early exits by her rivals have also played a part in this stability. At Wimbledon, both Sabalenka and her then-closest challenger Elena Rybakina were eliminated in the early rounds, securing the Belarusian's position at the summit; Sabalenka began her 91st consecutive week as world No. 1 on Monday, taking her overall tally to 99.
There is also movement elsewhere in the rankings. Rybakina is recalled to hold a healthy lead over Jessica Pegula, while Coco Gauff, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals, is back in the top five.
The US Open field is also taking shape under Sabalenka's leadership. According to the 2026 US Open main-draw entry list released by the WTA, 99 of the top 102 players in the PIF WTA Rankings will compete in the tournament; Sabalenka, who claimed four major titles including last year's triumph and successfully defended the title twice in a row, is aiming to win a third consecutive title at Flushing Meadows and become the first player to achieve this since Serena Williams (2014-16).
The other former champions set to join Sabalenka in the tournament are also known. Coco Gauff (2024), Iga Swiatek (2022), Naomi Osaka (2018, 2020) and Emma Raducanu (2021) are recalled to be the other former champions entering directly.
