Beşiktaş has concluded its managerial search, reached an agreement with Vincenzo Italiano, and officially announced the appointment by notifying the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that official negotiations have commenced.
Born on December 10, 1977, in Karlsruhe, Germany, Vincenzo Italiano belongs to a Sicilian family. Returning to Italy at a young age, Italiano entered the football world as a player, spending most of his career as a midfielder for Hellas Verona in Serie A and Serie B. After playing for clubs like Trapani, Padova, Perugia, and Lumezzane, he ended his active playing career in 2014 and immediately transitioned to management, where he would make his true breakthrough.
Patiently climbing the coaching ladder in lower leagues and amateur teams, the Italian manager achieved his first serious success by promoting Trapani to Serie C. Subsequently taking charge of Spezia, Italiano drew national attention by leading the club to its first-ever promotion to Serie A. This massive success opened the doors to Fiorentina, one of Italy's established giants. With "Viola" (The Violets), he guided the team to a seventh-place finish in Serie A, returning them to European competitions after years and showcasing his skills in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Most recently at Bologna, he literally wrote history by defeating Milan in the 2025 Coppa Italia final, bringing the club a historic cup title for the first time in 51 years. Having parted ways with Bologna by mutual consent in May 2026, the successful tactician is now opening a new chapter in his career in Turkey, leading Beşiktaş.
Tactical Style and Philosophy: Offense and Discipline
Vincenzo Italiano's on-pitch philosophy is based on a pragmatic yet highly attack-oriented approach. Generally preferring 4-3-3, 4-4-2, and 4-2-3-1 formations, the manager perfectly orchestrates the transitions between high-tempo attacking football and possession-based controlled play.
In his system, the attacking contributions of full-backs and wing organizations play a vital role. Aiming to create a constantly aggressive, high-pressing, hardworking, and disciplined team identity on the pitch, Italiano demands his teams to continue playing and react at every moment. With his enthusiastic, flexible, and high-tempo game structure, he is considered one of the most remarkable representatives of modern football in Italy.
