The uncertainty surrounding Brahim Diaz's future at Real Madrid appears to be coming to an end. According to AS, the newspaper described the player's situation as: "Arrive, accept, fight, then rise again. That is how it goes every summer. It is Brahim Diaz's routine, season after season." The report reveals that Mourinho considers Diaz an extremely valuable squad member and has no plans to let him leave.
Per AS, Real Madrid reached an agreement with Diaz last season, at the start of Xabi Alonso's tenure, to extend his contract until at least 2030 — with the formal announcement being the only remaining step to complete the unofficial deal. Despite interest from several clubs, particularly Juventus, negotiations never progressed because neither Real Madrid nor the player wanted them to. Diaz's departure was also never considered following Mourinho's arrival; on the contrary, the Portuguese manager views him as an extremely valuable addition.
The 26-year-old's versatility and willingness to make sacrifices are said to fit Mourinho's footballing philosophy. Diaz, who stood out at the 2026 World Cup with one goal and four assists as Morocco reached the semi-finals, has reportedly seen that form positively shape Mourinho's view of him. Having started just four times in 194 days, he then started six consecutive matches in a 29-day span between March and April, a period during which Real Madrid enjoyed their best form of the season even without Mbappe.
