SHOCK IN LE CLASSIQUE: AWAY BAN FOR PSG FANS

A flash development that shook the French football public occurred before the highly anticipated giant derby in French Ligue 1, known as 'Le Classique'. According to the breaking news announced by L'Equipe, one of the country's leading sports newspapers, Paris Saint-Germain fans were officially banned from traveling to the Marseille away game. The high tension brought by the historical rivalry between the two teams and the violent incidents experienced in previous years pushed the authorities to make this tough decision. The matches played between Marseille and PSG frequently came to the agenda of the world press not only with the fierce struggle on the pitch but also with the fan incidents off the pitch. Wanting to minimize these potential risks, local authorities and security forces prepared a comprehensive package of measures for the giant match. In line with this strict decision taken, PSG fans were blocked not only from entering the stadium but even from traveling to the city of Marseille on match day. Following this ban, it became certain that the capital representative will be completely deprived of fan support on the pitch. This tradition of away restrictions, which has been going on for years, once again ignited security debates in French football. While fan groups reacted to the decision on social media, authorities emphasized that safety is the top priority.
