Mason Mount, whom Manchester United transferred from Chelsea in 2023 with great hopes and a high transfer fee of 70 million euros, practically disappeared at the Red Devils. Despite entering his fourth season with the team, the 27-year-old English midfielder could not show the expected effectiveness on the pitch. Becoming the focal point of criticism with his inconsistent performance during his playing time, Mount also experienced a huge barrenness in the attacking lines. The star footballer was only able to experience the joy of 8 goals in all competitions with the Manchester United jersey in the past four-season period. The English player, who completely moved away from his dynamic game structure, creativity, and scoring identity he showed during his Chelsea era, also largely lost the trust of the technical staff and fans. Consecutive injuries, tactical incompatibilities, and a drop in form caused Mount to lose his place in the starting eleven. It was claimed that the Manchester United management started to re-evaluate the future of the 27-year-old player, who could not provide the expected contribution to the team and created a great burden with his cost. The British press emphasized that this giant budget transfer went down in history as one of the most inefficient investments of the club, writing that Mount could leave the team to revive his career.
