France head coach Didier Deschamps made important remarks at the press conference ahead of their crucial World Cup quarterfinal against Morocco. The experienced manager began his comments by showing great respect for the opposition.
Deschamps emphasized that Morocco has not reached this stage by accident, using the following words: "They are not here by accident. It's a matchup between two teams that like to have the ball, like to attack, and like to score goals." These words clearly showed that France are not underestimating their opponent.
The manager stressed that his team needs to produce a very high level of performance in tomorrow's match: "We'll have to perform at a very high level tomorrow because this Moroccan team is of very high quality." Deschamps stated that his and his staff's sole objective is to do everything possible to make sure things go their way.
Recalling that France currently top the tournament's scoring chart with 14 goals so far, the manager nonetheless underlined that his team needs to be even more efficient in attack against Morocco. Deschamps also responded calmly to questions about the Argentinian officiating team appointed for the match, stating they are not focusing on that issue, and said he does not yet have all the information on whether every player in his squad is ready for the match.
