An unexpected development has emerged regarding Victor Osimhen's future. According to journalist Ruben Uria, Galatasaray's Nigerian striker has been offered to Atletico Madrid through intermediaries. Uria stated: "In recent days, Victor Osimhen has been offered to Atletico Madrid. The player would love to live in Madrid and would love to play under Diego Simeone. His agents contacted Atletico's management and offered him for a sum of €75 million, which Atletico doesn't believe."
According to the report, Osimhen himself had previously expressed his admiration for Simeone; after facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this past January, he said: "I like him, I have always been a fan of their coach. I've met him a couple of times. They play aggressively and have an identity." The 27-year-old, who earns a high income at Galatasaray thanks to tax exemptions in Turkey, is said to be willing to significantly reduce his salary in order to play under Simeone.
However, Atletico Madrid's management turned down the offer. It's noted the club's current financial structure isn't suited to an operation of this scale, and that the club fully trusts Julian Alvarez in the centre-forward role, with no sale of the Argentine on the table. Osimhen's name has also reportedly been offered to Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham, though the player, who remains under contract with Galatasaray until 2029, is said to view Atletico Madrid as his top preference.
