ITALY HUMILIATION AND CALL FOR RESIGNATION FROM THE STANDS

The Turkish National Football Team suffered a historical humiliation against Italy, whom they hosted in Bursa in the UEFA Nations League, and left the pitch with a heavy 4-1 defeat. The crescent-star team, going out for its second match in the group, created a huge disappointment for its fans with the terrible football it displayed. Our nationals got 0 points in 2 matches in the tournament with this result and took a heavy wound in the group. However, the team still has 4 more matches to play ahead to reverse this bad trend. Turkey, starting the struggle very badly, literally collapsed in the first half with incredible consecutive mistakes made in defense. In the 9th minute of the match, Italian stopper Alessandro Bastoni sent the ball to the nets through the crowd and put his team 1-0 ahead. The nationals, unable to shake off the effect of this shock, fell 2-0 behind with Davide Frattesi's strike into the empty goal in the 22nd minute. Only five minutes later, in the 27th minute, Michael Kayode increased the margin to three, and the first half ended with this nightmare-like 3-0 score. Manager Vincenzo Montella started the second half with three substitutions and ignited a small ray of hope by reducing the margin to two with Barış Alper Yılmaz's goal in the 47th minute. However, Italy reacts to this goal very quickly. Pio Esposito, completing the ball returning from the post with a header in the 51st minute, brought the score to 4-1 and completely ended Turkey's hopes. The guest team Italy prints its first 3 points in the group to its account with this distinctive victory. Thousands of fans filling the Bursa stands vomited huge anger at this soulless and ineffective game displayed on the pitch. In the following minutes of the match, very harsh resignation chants rose from the stands towards the Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu and manager Vincenzo Montella. Fans invited the management and the technical committee to resign in unison. This heavy defeat of the national team and the bad football put forward will lead to huge discussions in the Turkish sports public in the upcoming days.
