The brightest Turkish star in world football right now, Kenan Yıldız, enters the summer transfer window with the most critical decision of his career. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, despite Juventus largely losing the chance to qualify for the Champions League after dropping to 6th place following the Fiorentina defeat, the Italian club has no intention of selling the 21-year-old Turkish forward. They view Yıldız as the "cornerstone of the future" and have extended his contract through 2030, raising his annual salary from €4.5 million to €6 million. Yıldız's own statement is clear: "Staying at Juventus for the rest of my life would be a dream for me. I'd love to spend my whole life here."
But there's another dimension: there's hardly a club in world football that doesn't want Yıldız. According to La Stampa, El Nacional, Tuttosport and Defensa Central, leading the way is Real Madrid. The newly announced Chelsea manager — but recently Real Madrid head coach — Xabi Alonso has been pursuing Yıldız since his Bayer Leverkusen days two years ago. According to Nicolo Schira on YouTube, while at Real Madrid Alonso said "I'd sell anyone except Mbappé to sign Yıldız." Real Madrid's chief scout Juan Calafat followed the player closely and filed reports describing himself as "very impressed."
Barcelona is the other arm of the race. According to Fichajes and El Nacional, Hansi Flick and president Joan Laporta want Yıldız. But the Catalans' financial situation makes meeting Juventus's €70-80 million asking price difficult — Barcelona can't make an offer without first selling players. Even more striking: according to Goal.com, Yıldız at one point offered himself to Barcelona. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also on the list. According to Goal.com's September 2025 report, Yıldız rejected Bayern and Barcelona's previous offers citing "loyalty to Juventus."
The football side of the debate is also important. Yıldız has produced 3 goals and 4 assists in 14 matches for Juventus this season. He stood out at last summer's Club World Cup with 3 goals and 2 assists in 4 matches. He now wears the iconic No. 10 jersey at Juventus — coming with comparisons to Alessandro Del Piero. Former Juve forward Fernando Llorente said "Yıldız is Serie A's most exciting talent. If he'd played with Del Piero, he'd have scored even more." Yıldız's own words are modest: "It's an honour to wear the No. 10 shirt, but it's me who plays, not the number on the back. The weight of the shirt is the same for everyone."
This World Cup performance could shift the balance. Together with Arda Güler, Yıldız is the brightest name in Vincenzo Montella's Türkiye attack, and his performance against USA-Australia-Paraguay in the group stage could multiply his transfer market value. A poor World Cup would strengthen Juventus's hand. But one truth remains: according to Mundiario, the "toxic relationship" between Vinicius Junior and Xabi Alonso increased the likelihood of Yıldız moving to Real Madrid — and now that Alonso has gone to Chelsea, this equation is being recalculated. One thing is certain: Türkiye's most valuable academy product ever will be European football's most talked-about file in summer 2026.
