Konate's Departure from Liverpool Nears: L'Équipe Drops the Bomb, Contract Talks at a Dead End

Another star transfer wind for Liverpool appears to be heading for a fruitless conclusion. According to information from sources close to the player, no extension agreement will now be reached. The 27-year-old defender is preparing to leave Liverpool on a free transfer when his five-year contract, signed in summer 2021 when he joined from RB Leipzig, expires.

This surprise has completely reversed the positive outlook of recent weeks. In April, Konate himself said in an interview that they were "close to an agreement" on an extension; at the same time, sources linked to Liverpool also saw him closer to staying at Anfield.
