MALDINI'S LEAO MEMORY: SCORE GOALS INSTEAD OF REELS VIDEOS

AC Milan legend and former sporting director Paolo Maldini made striking statements about Portuguese star Rafael Leao during his appearance on the Muschio Selvaggio program. In this interview from 2023, Maldini detailed Leao's early days after transferring from Lille, when he frequently sat on the bench. Maldini stated that he constantly warned Leao, who has absolutely everything needed to become a top-level player. The legendary figure told the young star directly, "You are playing for your Instagram. You constantly share reels consisting of beautiful dribbles, but you finish the season with only two or three goals and two or three assists. This is simply not enough for someone of your caliber. Your numbers need to be completely different." He motivated him to increase his productivity on the pitch. Arguing that a player with such immense and unique talent must work much harder than everyone else, Maldini also expressed that watching Leao's playing style is very enjoyable. Sharing an interesting music-related memory he had with the Portuguese footballer, who plays very fluently and has a special side unique to himself, Maldini said, "He even asked me once if he could release his music album on a Friday. We had a very important match on Saturday. When I asked him why Friday, he said that albums are always released on Fridays." Concluding his words, Maldini clearly stated that despite all these warnings and off-pitch interests, Rafael Leao is truly an incredible talent.
