The Dallas Mavericks have secured the long-term future of forward Naji Marshall, who put together the best season of his career last year. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Marshall has signed a fully guaranteed three-year extension worth $52.2 million. The deal keeps the 28-year-old in Dallas through the 2029-30 season.
Marshall set career highs across the board last season, averaging 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals across 74 appearances, while also starting a career-high 46 games. Mavericks President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri said in a statement: "Naji has earned this opportunity through the way he approaches the game every day. He is a competitive player who impacts winning in a variety of ways."
Marshall is likely to return to a starting role next season, though how his minutes will be shaped with Kyrie Irving back from injury remains to be seen. Irving, Cooper Flagg, Marshall, PJ Washington and Dereck Lively II form a potentially strong starting lineup for a Mavericks team looking to bounce back from a disappointing 26-56 campaign.
