Xavi, who gathered a great appreciation with the positive football he made his team play against the German panzers, fielded his team with the absolute victory motto in the Serbia away match. Taking the control of the game with the starting whistle of the encounter, the Netherlands created consecutive dangers in the opponent goal. In the 30th minute of the match, the Netherlands team won a critical penalty. The talented striker Meerdink, who took the ball, sent the goalkeeper to the wrong corner and put his team ahead 1-0 with a stylish shot. The first half ended with the superiority of the guest team. Serbia started the second half much more aggressively and fast. In the 46th minute, Jovic, who slipped behind the defense, aired the nets with a hard shot and brought the 1-1 balance to the score. The Netherlands, which never broke away from the game discipline despite this shock goal it conceded, established a great pressure in the opponent goal again. Meerdink, who met the ball inside the penalty area in the 69th minute of the struggle, took the stage once again and made the score 2-1 by scoring his and his team's second goal. Although Serbia pushed for a draw in the remaining minutes, the Netherlands defense made no mistakes and the guest team left the field victorious.
