Thiago Silva has become a free agent once again after parting ways with FC Porto. Despite this, the veteran defender does not seem to have any intention of hanging up his boots just yet. According to reports in the Brazilian media, the AC Milan management has offered the player a new one-year contract before he turns 42. On the other hand, it is stated that he has also received an offer from Chelsea FC for a coaching role.
San Siro is not an unfamiliar address for Thiago Silva. The Brazilian star played for Milan between 2009 and 2012, and after his impressive performance there, he joined Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of 42 million Euros. Later, the experienced center-back played for Chelsea and Fluminense FC, and returned to the European stage by joining Porto as a free agent in January.
However, it became clear today that his contract with Porto will not be renewed. Thus, Thiago Silva will be a free agent again as of June 30. Despite turning 42 in September, he has not made a definitive decision about retiring from football.
The Brazilian defender made 14 appearances for Porto this season, starting in 12 of them.
According to information reported by ESPN Brasil, Milan wants to see the player in the Rossoneri jersey again after 14 years and has offered him a one-year contract. In fact, it was rumored that the Italian club made a similar attempt in January.
However, Thiago Silva has another option ahead of him. The successful footballer is open to ending his active career and taking up a role in the Chelsea academy. This way, he could take his first step into a post-football coaching career at the London club, whose jersey he wore between 2020 and 2024.
