Mohamed Salah's next destination is starting to take shape following his departure from Liverpool after nine years at Anfield. Besiktas had emerged as the strongest candidate for much of the summer, with club president Serdal Adali even claiming the transfer had received the "green light." However, those negotiations have now broken down without a deal being reached. Turkish newspaper Sabah reports that Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad has since entered the picture, opening talks with the Egyptian star.
According to the report, Salah has agreed to move to the Roshn League and specifically to Al-Ittihad, accepting a staggering salary reported at $25 million per year. However, some sources in Egypt have dismissed the claims as "nonsense," insisting nothing has been finalised. Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, also fuelled the uncertainty last week, posting on social media that even he did not know where the forward would play next season.
The 31-year-old has previously been linked with several other Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah and Al-Diriyah, as well as MLS side Sporting Kansas City as a surprise alternative. With both the Turkish and Saudi league seasons set to begin within two weeks, a final decision on Salah's future is expected imminently.
