EARTHQUAKE IN PREMIER LEAGUE: CITY'S TROPHIES MAY BE STRIPPED

The possibility of Manchester City, which was officially found guilty of 114 out of 115 financial charges in the English Premier League, being stripped of its championships aroused a massive echo in the sports world. According to the news in the English press, in case a total of 8 championships obtained by the blue and white team in past years were deleted, the entire league table changed from top to bottom. If this massive sanction became official, the teams that finished the league in second place in the relevant seasons were directly declared champions. Accordingly, the championship trophies of the 2011-2012, 2017-2018, and 2020-2021 seasons went to the museum of Manchester United. Liverpool went down in official records as the side that breasted the tape in the 2013-2014, 2018-2019, and 2021-2022 seasons. The victories of the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, which witnessed a fierce championship race in recent years, were given directly to the Arsenal team. A historical change was experienced in the total number of championships after a possible cancellation decision. Liverpool and Manchester United shared the top by increasing their total number of trophies to 23. Arsenal followed this duo with a total of 16 championships. The number of trophies of Manchester City, facing the risk of losing all 8 championships, dropped to 2 in an instant. Football authorities emphasized that the issue of exactly which seasons were deleted or whether all trophies were canceled was still unknown. However, even this raised possibility turned all the balances at the top of English football upside down. Fans and rival clubs waited for the final judicial decision with great attention.
