The Polish goalkeeper completely closing the season by tearing his anterior cruciate ligaments in training created a huge shock in the technical committee of the Turin team. Preparing an urgent action plan upon this unexpected development, the Juventus management started market research to strengthen the goalkeeper rotation. According to the news reported by the famous Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, two experienced names in free agent status took place at the top of the black-and-whites' transfer list. While the first of these candidates was former Juventus goalkeeper Neto, it was revealed that the main favorite name was Spanish goalie Sergio Rico. It was stated that thirty-three-year-old Sergio Rico, who lastly played for the Qatari team Al Gharafa and currently holds his own testimonial, looked very warmly at transferring to the Turin team. The managers of the Italian giant established the first contacts with the experienced Spanish goalkeeper's agent, and the negotiations proceeded in a positive atmosphere. It was expressed that Juventus, wanting to entrust the goal to a reliable name in Grabara's long-term absence, was expected to make the Sergio Rico transfer official in a short time.
