The course of Milan's summer planning has turned once again to Old Trafford. According to the report, the Italian side are interested in Manchester United's Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui, in line with the wishes of head coach Ruben Amorim as he looks to strengthen his squad. The player is among the Rossoneri's defensive targets; however, no direct club-to-club talks with Manchester United have taken place at this stage. Contacts with the player's agents, on the other hand, are said to have begun.
At the centre of the story lies Amorim's desire to reunite with his former pupil. The Portuguese coach, who left his Manchester United post in January and took charge of Milan last month in place of Massimiliano Allegri, had spoken glowingly about Mazraoui during his Old Trafford spell: "He's a top player. He understands the game, he knows how to attack, he's very technical, he's very good defensively and one-on-one. He's a modern player; the future of our team." The Moroccan full-back stands as Amorim's fourth target from his former club, following Manuel Ugarte (whose file was closed by his ACL injury at the World Cup), Mason Mount and Amad Diallo.
The timing is no coincidence either. With Pervis Estupiñán, who sits at the top of Aston Villa's shortlist, expected to depart, Milan are rebuilding their wing-back rotation; in Amorim's planned 3-4-2-1, Mazraoui — capable of playing right-back, wing-back and on the right of a back three — is viewed as the ideal profile thanks to his versatility. Young alternative Guela Doué is also mentioned on the list.
The United front, however, is no easy nut to crack. The 28-year-old, who arrived from Bayern Munich for around £17 million in 2024, has made 77 appearances and is regarded internally as one of the club's best signings of recent years, has a contract until 2028 with a one-year option. The Red Devils are reported to be reluctant to listen to offers in this window for Mazraoui, a World Cup quarter-finalist with Morocco.
