Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Community Shield final, English football's traditional season-opening showpiece, to claim the trophy. The neutral-venue final, played at the Principality Stadium, ended in a comfortable win for Arsenal.
Arsenal made a stunning start, taking the lead in just the 1st minute. Following a superb through ball from Lewis-Skelly that split the defence, Riccardo Calafiori finished into the net. Manchester City's Phil Foden picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute, before Kai Havertz doubled the advantage in the 28th, assisted by Tzolis. In the 38th minute, Calafiori, the architect of the opener, also received a yellow card. The first half ended 2-0 to Arsenal.
At the start of the second half, Manchester City brought on Jack Grealish for Jeremy Doku in an attempt to go on the attack. However, Arsenal extended their lead to 3-0 in the 48th minute through Martin Odegaard, again assisted by Tzolis. The goal fully cemented Arsenal's control of the match.
Manchester City made significant changes in the second half. Joško Gvardiol received a yellow card in the 53rd minute, with the coaching staff also substituting Erling Haaland for Omar Marmoush at the same point. Further changes to City's lineup followed in the subsequent minutes, but the score remained unchanged.
With the match ending 3-0, Arsenal took pride in beginning the new season with a trophy. The win over Manchester City goes down as a significant achievement for the north London club.
