Arsenal eyeing West Ham's Dinos Mavropanos

Arsenal are turning to a familiar face to add experience to their defence this summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports, the London side are among the clubs interested in West Ham United's Greece international centre-back Dinos Mavropanos. It is reported that Mavropanos is attracting attention not only from Arsenal but also from other Premier League sides and various clubs across Europe.

The paths of Arsenal and Mavropanos have actually crossed before. The Greek defender joined Arsenal from PAOK in 2018 but was unable to make the expected impact in London, eventually moving permanently to Stuttgart in Germany after several loan spells. Following strong performances there, Mavropanos returned to England by joining West Ham United in the summer of 2023.

The experienced defender enjoyed an impressive spell in a West Ham shirt and became one of the side's most consistent figures. However, the club's relegation has raised question marks over his future. Mavropanos' current contract runs until 2028 with West Ham, which means the club holds a strong negotiating position at the table.

For Arsenal, boosting defensive depth is among their priorities. It is suggested that head coach Mikel Arteta may want to add a centre-back with Premier League experience who stands out for his physical strength. While no formal offer is on the table at this stage, the intensity of the interest in the player points to a potentially busy transfer process around Mavropanos in the coming weeks.
