Arsenal Sign Bruno Guimaraes for £75 Million

Arsenal have brought one of the summer's longest-running transfer sagas to a close. Fabrizio Romano posted today: "Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal, HERE WE GO! Agreement in place with Newcastle after long talks and personal terms in place with Bruno since July. Fee worth £75m. New midfielder for Mikel Arteta."

According to the report, while Newcastle had initially insisted on a fee closer to £100 million, the player's strong desire to leave ultimately softened the club's stance. The Brazilian midfielder had reportedly wanted a move to Arsenal for months, with the process accelerating following a change of head coach at Newcastle after Eddie Howe's departure. The Athletic's David Ornstein also confirmed Newcastle had sanctioned the sale, with the clubs reaching a compromise to allow the player his desired move.

Guimaraes, 28, who was one of Brazil's standout performers at the 2026 World Cup, will give Arteta added flexibility in midfield alongside Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Martin Odegaard. Supporters must still await the medical, contract signing and official club announcement before the move is formally complete, but after weeks of negotiations, Guimaraes is now set to become an Arsenal player.
