Besiktas' plan to strengthen their defence has hit an unexpected obstacle. According to Germany's trusted sports outlet Kicker, VfB Stuttgart have turned down Besiktas' official €10 million offer for the French-born German defender. Head coach Vincenzo Italiano, who worked with Chabot during his time at Spezia and is keen to bring him to Istanbul, now faces a difficult negotiation over the transfer fee.
Stuttgart are said to be holding firm at around €20 million, leaving a significant gap of €8-10 million between the two clubs. Besiktas had reportedly already raised their offer to €12 million, though even that failed to satisfy the German side. The 28-year-old defender, who is under contract with Stuttgart until June 2028, is said to remain positive about a move to Besiktas despite his club's firm stance.
With Felix Uduokhai not part of their plans for the new season, Besiktas remain in the market for an experienced defender capable of leading their backline. It remains to be seen whether the club will raise their offer further or turn to alternative targets following this rejection, with the club expected to return to the negotiating table with Stuttgart in the coming days.
