With Manchester City captain Rodri's potential move to Real Madrid dominating headlines, TeamTalk reports that Bayern Munich are also watching the situation closely from a distance. According to the report, both PSG and Bayern Munich declined to get involved in the Rodri race despite City sounding out interest through intermediaries, with the German and French giants stepping back after learning the midfielder has no desire to join any club other than Real Madrid.
Rodri reportedly informed City's hierarchy of his wish to return to Madrid in talks held over recent weeks, with the club now working towards an amicable exit. The 30-year-old underwent successful minor back surgery last Monday, with Real Madrid quickly checking on his condition and being informed the procedure went well. Real Madrid are said to be targeting a fee of around €50 million for the deal, while Manchester City are holding out closer to €60 million.
It's noted Bayern Munich remain huge admirers of Rodri but are not actively pursuing him at this stage given his clear preference. Rodri, who silenced fitness doubters by winning the Golden Ball at the 2026 World Cup, gave Real Madrid further confidence that he still has several elite seasons ahead of him with that performance. Negotiations between the two clubs continue as they work to close the remaining gap in valuation.
