Bayern Munich remain on the hunt for a long-term successor to Harry Kane, and Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko continues to feature on the club's shortlist. According to Bundesliga insider Christian Falk, Bayern's interest in Sesko is directly linked to Kane's future role. The idea is that the 33-year-old Englishman could gradually shift into a deeper position over the years, operating more as a playmaking No. 10, which would open up space for a classic centre-forward ahead of him.
Falk explained that the concept first took shape when Vincent Kompany joined the club in 2024, when Bayern originally hoped to bring Sesko to Munich. He proved too expensive at the time, paving the way for Manchester United to complete the transfer a year later. Falk says the idea is still on the table, with Bayern continuing to explore ways of adding a suitable centre-forward to the squad.
Complicating matters slightly is Morocco international Ismael Saibari, signed from PSV Eindhoven for €50 million this summer. Capable of playing both in midfield and up front, Saibari could be tested as a striker with Kane sitting deeper this season, which may reduce the urgency of a Sesko pursuit for now. Manchester United, meanwhile, are not keen to sell the 23-year-old, who cost £74 million last summer and scored 12 goals in his debut season as the club finished third in the Premier League.
