Besiktas GAIN Take First Match Away: 88-80

In the first match of the Turkish Basketball Super League 2025-26 season play-off final series, Besiktas GAIN took an unexpected victory by beating Fenerbahce Beko 88-80 at the Ülker Sports and Event Hall. The Black-and-Whites took the best-of-five series 1-0 with this result obtained in the home team's hall. The match was officiated by the refereeing trio of Özlem Yalman, Alper Altuğ Köselerli and Can Mavisu.

The opening of the match went in favour of Besiktas GAIN. The Black-and-Whites made a start that put a margin of 11 points to the opponent by winning the first quarter with a score of 27-16. In the second quarter, Fenerbahce Beko tightened its defence and revived the attack line; they won this quarter 26-16 and reduced the gap to one. As they went to halftime, the score stood at 43-42 in favour of Besiktas GAIN. The third quarter was balanced and ended 19-19 equal. In the last quarter, Besiktas GAIN raised the tempo again; they secured the victory by winning the final period 26-19.

On the Besiktas GAIN side, Ugurlu became the star of the match; he was in the leading position of his team with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a 60% hit rate during his time of 24 minutes 38 seconds. At Fenerbahce Beko, Wade Baldwin fulfilled the scorer role with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists, while Tarik Biberović also became the team's other leading name with statistics of 16 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. However, the efforts of these two star players of the Yellow-Navy Blues were not enough to compensate for the general attacking inefficiency of the team.

With this result, Besiktas GAIN obtained a great achievement in the first match of the final series away as well, after obtaining the same 25 wins and 5 losses statistics with Fenerbahce Beko in the regular season. While it is remembered that the Yellow-Navy Blues under Šarūnas Jasikevičius' management also beat Besiktas GAIN in the Turkish Cup final, this result made the play-off series much more open. The pairing, which played in the final twice throughout history and in both of which Fenerbahce Beko became champion, started with a different scenario this time. The second match of the series will be played on Sunday, June 15 again at the Ülker Sports and Event Hall. The third match will be held on Wednesday, June 17 at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.
