Besiktas are continuing their blockbuster summer with a move for Darwin Nunez. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Turkish club has agreed a loan deal running until the end of the season for Al-Hilal's Uruguayan forward. Besiktas had already secured a one-year deal worth €12 million annually with Mohamed Salah, including a clause to extend by a further season, in recent weeks — and the Nunez signing could turn their attack into one of the most fearsome in the league.
Nunez, who joined Al-Hilal from Liverpool for around €53 million (£46.3 million) last summer, fell well short of expectations at the Saudi club. Following the arrival of Karim Benzema in January, the 26-year-old was squeezed out of the squad due to the Saudi Pro League's restriction on foreign players born before 2003, and hasn't featured in a competitive match since February, despite recording six goals and four assists in 16 league appearances.
Talks between all parties have accelerated in recent hours, with the player said to be eager to return to European football. Al-Hilal, having made a significant investment in the striker last summer, are reportedly reluctant to let him go for a low fee, which is why the deal has been structured as a loan rather than a permanent sale. Alongside Besiktas, Nunez also has an offer on the table from MLS, but he is said to favour Besiktas due to the guaranteed playing time on offer.
