Besiktas have moved to add a new name to their attack. According to L'Equipe, the Turkish club has submitted an official offer worth €15 million for 22-year-old French winger Mohamed-Ali Cho of Nice. According to the report, Monaco are also said to have the player on their transfer list alongside Besiktas.
According to the report, there's an interesting backstory to this pursuit: Cho was on the verge of joining newly promoted Premier League side Hull City, owned by Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali, for a fee of €20 million, and was scheduled to undergo a medical on Sunday. However, the English club backed out of the deal at the last moment, deciding to redirect its transfer budget elsewhere following a series of injury problems. It's noted that this development came as a major shock to both Nice and Cho himself.
It's recalled that Cho, who made 37 appearances for Nice last season contributing five goals and five assists, and whose current market value is set at €15 million, has a contract with the club until 2028. It's noted that his transfer from Real Sociedad in the winter of 2024 included a 15% sell-on clause for his former club, meaning Real Sociedad could receive up to €2 million from this transfer. Following Hull City's withdrawal, it's emphasised that both Nice and the player remain open to other options, with Besiktas said to be looking to take advantage of the opening.
