The numbers surrounding a potential Liverpool move for Bradley Barcola are becoming clearer. According to Sky Sports, PSG have set a firm asking price of €170 million (£145m) for the French winger. The Champions League holders' stance has created a significant gap in valuation with Liverpool, making the deal difficult to complete at this stage.
According to the report, Liverpool have held preliminary talks with PSG and worked out the broad shape of personal terms with Barcola's agents, but a substantial gulf remains between PSG's €170 million valuation and the figure Liverpool are prepared to offer. Having made signing a star for that position a priority following Mohamed Salah's departure, Liverpool are said to be willing to pay a significant fee, though not yet close to PSG's demand.
Barcola, 23, who has two years left on his contract in Paris and has made clear he will not sign a new deal, is said to want to play for a team where he is the star rather than remaining a squad option in PSG's settled front three. It's noted that a move to Liverpool holds strong appeal for the player himself, while PSG are said to have used deals such as those for Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson as a valuation benchmark, with Barcola's back-to-back Champions League titles and strong World Cup also factoring into the assessment.
