Anadolu Efes have moved to bring academy graduate Cedi Osman back into their squad. According to Satıris Vetakis, the Istanbul club has made a concrete offer to the experienced player, currently at Panathinaikos, and have reached an advanced stage in the transfer.
The figures reported are striking. It is claimed that, while Cedi Osman earns around €1.7 million a year at the Athens club, Anadolu Efes have offered him a salary of €2.5 million. Following that attractive offer, the player is said to be keen on the move, with an agreement reportedly reached in principle. However, for the transfer to become official, Anadolu Efes must pay the buy-out clause in his contract to Panathinaikos.
For Cedi Osman, this transfer is far more than a routine squad move. The 31-year-old forward, who shone in an Anadolu Efes shirt between 2011 and 2017 and made his name in European basketball there, is preparing to return to his home club after a full nine years. After spells with the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, Cedi joined Panathinaikos in 2024 and quickly became an important part of the team in Athens.
A change of head coach at the Greek club (Željko Obradović arriving after Ergin Ataman) strengthened the prospect of a departure. On the Anadolu Efes side, the move stands out as the most notable step in a plan to strengthen the domestic rotation after Shane Larkin's transfer to Fenerbahçe Beko. With the Istanbul club targeting an ambitious roster in the EuroLeague and the Turkish Super League, attention now turns to the final talks with Panathinaikos.
