Chelsea's new star: Geovany Quenda

The awaited official announcement about the wing position at Chelsea has arrived. The club announced that the transfer of young talent Geovany Quenda, who played for Sporting Lisbon, has been completed. The 19-year-old Portuguese player signed a long-term contract with Chelsea running until 2034.

According to reports, the agreement between the two clubs was actually reached last year, in March 2025. Quenda had remained at Sporting for a further season since then and has now officially joined Chelsea. It was stated that the transfer fee, including variable terms, could rise to as much as €52 million.

A versatile player who can play on the right wing and at right wing-back, Quenda played an important role last season in Sporting Lisbon winning the Primeira Liga and the Portuguese Cup. Following this successful performance, the young player was named the league's "Young Player of the Season" in 2025. Regarded as one of the brightest talents in European football, this transfer of Quenda's is seen as one of Chelsea's investments for the future.
