Dalic Slams Referees as Modric Bids Farewell

Croatia's national team manager Zlatko Dalic made striking and harsh statements to the press following his team's recent defeat. Strongly criticizing the refereeing that marked the match, the experienced coach argued that there was an attitude deliberately against them on the pitch. Drawing attention to the unfairness of the decisions, Dalic stated, "The refereeing was absolutely against us and I have to say it was very bad. Nothing that should have been in our favor was given; neither the fouls we deserved nor the set pieces."

Gvardiol's goal, which was sent to the net in the final moments of the match but was canceled due to a highly controversial offside call, was the last straw for the Croatian camp. This critical position, which created a massive debate in the football public, fueled Dalic's rebellion against the match officials.

Alongside the harsh criticism, there was also a deep sorrow in Dalic's words. Touching upon the international future of Croatian football legend Luka Modric, the manager said, "This was probably Modric's last World Cup. I am truly sorry that it had to end this way, with such a sad and controversial defeat."

Praising Modric's stance on the pitch, Dalic added, "Modric played exceptionally well, especially in the second half. He got back on his feet and became one of our most crucial players again. He showed his immense character and quality once more. He led Croatia with absolute pride until the very end."
