Draymond Green's firm answer to Curry unhappiness claim

A piece of speculation dominating the NBA agenda has met a response straight from the source. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has denied a claim made about teammate Stephen Curry on his own podcast, The Draymond Green Show.

Green's response made a direct reference to the journalist who made the claim. Following The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II claiming that Curry might be tired of the Warriors' "star chasing" mentality, Green addressed the comment with these words: "Saw Marcus Thompson come out and say Steph is probably tired of star chasing. I don't know what the hell Steph's tired of, but I do believe that if Steph was tired of something, he would say that. He lives for tough conversations."

The context in which the claim emerged is also notable. It surfaced after the Warriors missed out on LeBron James in free agency, with James choosing the Philadelphia 76ers; the club is recalled to have been linked with many big names over the past two seasons, including Paul George, Giannis Antetokounmpo and James, without completing any of those deals.

Similar warnings also came from the Warriors media. Renowned names such as Marc J. Spears and Nick Friedell are reported to have indicated that fans should not be hasty in concluding that Curry is unhappy with the front office.

The player's loyalty to the club also reinforces this picture. Curry is reported to have repeatedly said he intends to retire having played for just one club, the Warriors, with the 38-year-old still performing at an All-NBA level.

Green's own future has also become clear. Green is recalled to have recently signed a new one-year, $27.7 million contract with the Warriors.
