The newly released ATP world rankings following Wimbledon have caused a massive shake-up in men's tennis. Despite losing the championship to Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev's impressive run to the final earned him 8,480 points, catapulting him to the world No. 2 spot for the first time. Zverev's historic ascent was heavily influenced by Carlos Alcaraz's misfortune. Sidelined with a right wrist injury, Alcaraz missed the tournament and failed to defend his 1,300 points from the 2025 final, dropping to No. 3 with 8,160 points. This marks the first time since 2021 that Alcaraz has fallen outside the top two, with the gap between him and Zverev now a mere 320 points. At the very top, Jannik Sinner continues his undisputed reign.
The new rankings feature significant movement across the Top 10. Alex de Minaur reached a new career-high at No. 5, while semi-finalist Novak Djokovic climbed to No. 7 and Daniil Medvedev rose to No. 8. Quarter-finalist Flavio Cobolli broke into the elite Top 10 for the first time at No. 9. Ben Shelton slipped to No. 6, and Taylor Fritz suffered a three-spot drop to No. 10. The ultimate Cinderella story belonged to British wild card Arthur Fery, whose semi-final run saw him skyrocket 78 positions from No. 114 to No. 36. "This changes everything; I will now be able to play in Tour events for at least a year," Fery stated.
