ZVEREV'S DREAM SEASON: CHAMPION AT THE US OPEN

A breathtaking battle took place in the men's singles final of the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the season. German racket Alexander Zverev faced off against young American star Ben Shelton, who managed to reach a Grand Slam final for the first time in his career right at home in front of his crowd. World number 2 Zverev, who imposed his weight on the court in the highly competitive final match, left the court victorious with a 3-1 win after sets of 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, and 6-2, lifting the championship trophy. This victory essentially crowns what has been a dream season for the German tennis player. Showing a massive success by reaching the finals in three of the four Grand Slam tournaments this year, Zverev had previously lost to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final. However, after defeating Flavio Cobolli in the French Open final to secure his first career Grand Slam championship, Zverev has now claimed the US Open title in New York, marking his second overall Grand Slam victory. The experienced racket broke Shelton's home-court advantage with the mental toughness he displayed during the critical moments of the match. Taking a huge advantage by winning the first two sets, Zverev faced Shelton's resistance in the third set but finished the game with his dominant play in the fourth. Despite having the tremendous support of his audience behind him, Shelton left the court defeated but proved he will be a future star.
