New Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca is pushing hard to reunite with Malo Gusto, one of the standout figures from his time at Chelsea. According to Goal, Chelsea's management have set a clear price for the 23-year-old French right-back: €75 million. Maresca reportedly wants to make him his "first signing" at Manchester City and is described as a "huge advocate" of the player's ability.
It's worth recalling that Maresca, who left Chelsea in January before taking charge at Manchester City, won the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup together with Gusto at Stamford Bridge. The French full-back made 38 appearances across all competitions last season, with roughly half of those coming under Maresca. Manchester City are said to be searching for a strong option at right-back, with sporting director Hugo Viana said to be aligned with Maresca on the target.
According to Goal, while Manchester City admire Gusto, they are not currently planning to pay €75 million, and will explore alternative options if the price does not come down. Bayern Munich have also reportedly made enquiries about the player's situation. Gusto, who joined Chelsea from Lyon for €30 million in 2023 and has since contributed three goals and 17 assists in 134 appearances, is said to be very keen on the prospect of reuniting with Maresca and eager for the move to happen.
