Everton Table £35m Bid for Baris Alper

Everton have once again turned to Galatasaray's Turkish star Baris Alper Yilmaz as they search for attacking reinforcements. According to Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi, who broke the news on X, officials from the Merseyside club travelled to Istanbul to try to seal a formal agreement for the 26-year-old winger, presenting an offer worth £35 million (around €40 million). Terzi wrote: "Everton officials have arrived in Istanbul for Baris Alper Yilmaz. There's £35 million on the table."

Everton have had Yilmaz on their radar since 2024, with David Moyes seeking attacking additions capable of pushing his side towards European qualification. The Toffees, who have already added Hayden Hackney this summer and converted the loans of Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George into permanent deals, are said to need further reinforcements to raise their competitiveness. Capable of playing on either flank as well as centrally when required, Yilmaz contributed 12 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray last season.

Galatasaray are said to be holding out for around €50 million for the player, above Everton's current offer. However, reports in the Turkish press suggest the Super Lig champions could be open to a bid in the €35-40 million range amid some friction with supporters. Yilmaz, who also represented Turkey at the 2026 World Cup and contributed a goal and an assist in the team's sole win, against the United States, remains under contract with Galatasaray until 2028.
