Fenerbahce's new target: Marcus Rashford

Another name has been added to Fenerbahce's ambitious summer transfer agenda. According to the report, the Turkish side are preparing an official move for Manchester United's English star Marcus Rashford and want to reach an agreement in principle with the English club as quickly as possible. Should a deal be struck between the clubs, negotiations over Rashford's personal terms are expected to accelerate rapidly.

The background to the move is part of a notable chain of events. Having completed the Mason Greenwood transfer with Marseille, football executive Cihan Kamer and sporting director Oguz Cetin travelled directly to Manchester to open contacts over Rashford. The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona before being sent back to Manchester United after the Spanish club opted not to trigger their option, does not feature in the English club's plans for next season — a factor that significantly strengthens Fenerbahce's hand.

The ambition of head coach Ismail Kartal's side to elevate their attacking line to an elite level underpins this move as well. Should Rashford join following Greenwood, Fenerbahce would reunite two former Manchester United teammates in the same forward line — a scenario generating significant excitement among supporters.

Different scenarios are being discussed on the financial front: a transfer fee in the region of €35-40 million or a loan with a mandatory purchase option are both on the table. Fenerbahce are not alone, however; Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Tottenham are also reported to be interested in the player. Rashford, meanwhile, is expected to make his decision once England's World Cup campaign concludes — suggesting the file could be resolved quickly in the coming days.
