Five European clubs chase Trabzonspor's Christ Oulai

The young talent Trabzonspor unearthed last summer has become one of the hottest names on Europe's radar this window. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, 20-year-old Ivorian midfielder Christ Inao Oulai is being closely tracked by Brentford and Brighton in England, Fiorentina and Juventus in Italy, and RB Leipzig in Germany.

The biggest factor driving Oulai's rising value was his performance at the World Cup. Establishing himself as a regular starter ahead of the experienced Seko Fofana in Ivory Coast's midfield, the young player caught scouts' attention with his maturity and game intelligence. According to Gazzetta, Juventus' new head coach Luciano Spalletti has described him as a "173cm, technically gifted, comfortable under pressure" profile with excellent passing range, seeing him as a versatile option capable of playing both as a defensive midfielder and further forward.

The interest is not limited to the Serie A giants. Brentford have already had a €25 million bid rejected by Trabzonspor. The Turkish club is said to be demanding a fee well above that figure, with some reports suggesting RB Leipzig's offer could climb as high as €35-40 million. Bastia's 20 per cent sell-on clause from Oulai's former club is another reason Trabzonspor are holding out for a higher price.

Signed from Bastia for just €5.5 million last summer and under contract until 2030, Oulai's rapid rise now presents his club with a significant profit opportunity. Fiorentina's interest was played down by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who said no formal talks had taken place, but the transfer circus around the midfielder looks set to continue throughout the summer.
