Fran García officially at Real Betis

The awaited official announcement about the left-back position at Real Betis has arrived. The Andalusian club announced that the transfer of Real Madrid left-back Fran García has been completed. The 26-year-old Spanish defender signed a four-year contract with Betis running until June 2030.

The transfer became official with Fabrizio Romano's "Here We Go" announcement. According to the agreement between the two clubs, Real Betis will pay Real Madrid €4 million for 50 percent of García's economic rights. Real Madrid will retain the remaining 50 percent sell-on share; this means that should Betis sell the player in the future, the Madrid club will receive half of the transfer fee.

García's decision to leave Real Madrid stemmed from the congestion the club experienced at the left-back position. With the arrival of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, manager José Mourinho's squad found itself with four names (Cucurella, Álvaro Carreras, Ferland Mendy and García) in that same position. With Cucurella seen as the undisputed starter and Carreras also regarded as an investment for the future, the chance of regular playing time for García had gradually diminished.

It was reported that Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini identified the energetic left-back as a priority target to strengthen his defensive line. With his move to Betis, García will bring the experience he gained in his seasons at Real Madrid to the Andalusian club. The player's adaptation to his new team and his performance at the start of the season will be followed with interest in the coming period.
