France's successful run at the World Cup is delivering not only results on the pitch but also a significant boost to the federation's coffers. According to L'Équipe, the French Football Federation (FFF) has banked €25.4 million as the national team advanced to the semifinal of the tournament. This figure is determined under FIFA's performance-based prize system.
According to reports, the federation's earnings will continue to rise should France keep advancing in the tournament. It is stated that the FFF's earnings would rise to €28.9 million should the national team reach the final and finish as runners-up. Should France win the title, that figure is reported to climb to as much as €43.7 million, which is nearly double the earnings at the semifinal stage.
It is recalled that FIFA's total distribution fund for the 2026 World Cup stands at a record level. A total of $871 million (around €800 million) has been allocated for the tournament; this fund consists of performance-based prize money that varies according to each participating nation's tournament result, along with a preparation grant given to all 48 participating countries.
It is stated that the total prize the eventual champion will receive from FIFA will reach up to $50 million (around €46 million); this figure is reported to be $8 million more than the prize received by champions Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. France's success at the tournament appears to carry significant importance for the federation, both sporting and financial.
