As LeBron James' months-long free agency saga came to an end, one of the most personal moments of the process has also come to light. According to Jon Krawczynski, while waiting for LeBron James' free agency decision, Anthony Edwards jokingly told him he'd tear his head off if he didn't decide soon.

This exchange turned into a playful back-and-forth that also showcased the mutual respect between the two. LeBron laughed and asked what would happen if he chose another team besides Minnesota; without hesitation, Edwards replied that it would be fine, because that would just mean he could tear James' head off on the court whenever their two teams met.

There was a persistent Timberwolves campaign behind this exchange. According to an earlier report from Krawczynski, Edwards had been directly involved with James throughout this process and had called him on multiple occasions; new teammate LaMelo Ball was also reported to have similarly spoken with James.

The emotional dimension of the campaign was also notable. It is recalled that Edwards was upset when he discovered the Timberwolves were not considered among the top three candidates in James' free agency sweepstakes.

Even though James ultimately chose a different path, this moment carries lasting significance. James ended up picking the Philadelphia 76ers over the Timberwolves, but this warm and humorous exchange illustrates the mutual respect between the two stars and just how widely followed James' free agency process was.
