As a new one is added to the never-ending rules and system changes in Turkish football, the foreign player rule debates have flared up again and much more fiercely. Galatasaray Sports Club published a very harsh, reproachful, and striking manifesto from its official channels regarding the latest foreign player rule decision taken by the Turkish Football Federation. The yellow-red club clearly emphasized that this critical decision does not serve the general integrity of the league.
In the statement made by the management, the real intention behind the decision was questioned, stating, "It is very clear that this decision was taken not to protect the common interests of all clubs, but to produce a solution to the difficult conditions a single club is in and to act almost as a lifeline for that club." Referring to the chronic problems in Turkish football, Galatasaray harshly criticized the double standards in the system, saying, "Names change, managements change, but unfortunately, the understanding that protects and supports this club does not change." While this scathing statement caused a massive storm in the sports public and among rival team fans, it is eagerly awaited how the federation will respond to these heavy accusations and criticisms. Galatasaray's strong stance received great support from its own fans.
