Galatasaray are continuing negotiations to sign young French forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. While talks between the club, the player, and Bayern have progressed positively, Portuguese side Porto have also emerged as serious admirers of the striker — a development that complicates matters for Galatasaray.
Sources close to the club say Galatasaray have largely put the necessary financial framework in place and are nearing an agreement with Bayern Munich over a transfer fee. However, several details still need to be finalised before the move can be made official, leaving the deal described as "halfway there."
Porto's involvement has introduced a competitive element for Bayern Munich, who are said to be weighing up the strongest offer between the two suitors. Galatasaray's management insists they remain in direct contact with the player and that Tel is keen on a move to Istanbul.
Despite his young age, Tel already has Bundesliga and Premier League experience, which is a key reason Galatasaray have pushed hard for the signing. The club hopes the addition will strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new season. Further clarity on the transfer is expected in the coming days.
