Galatasaray's new target: Assane Diao

A new development set to mark Galatasaray's summer transfer window is unfolding. According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, the Turkish club is closely monitoring the situation of Senegalese winger Assane Diao, who plays for Serie A side Como. It was reported that the club has made initial contact with Como to learn the transfer terms for the 20-year-old.

Having begun a search for a young and dynamic name for their attack following the TFF's new foreign-player rule, Galatasaray are reported to be preparing an offer for Diao that includes a loan with an option to buy. The fact that the player, whose natural position is left wing, can also play on the right wing and as a centre-forward stands out as one of the factors increasing the club's interest.

Having come through Real Betis's academy, Assane Diao moved to Como for €12 million at the start of last season. Scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 35 official matches in his first season in Italy, the young player has contributed 22 goals and seven assists across 107 matches in his career. These statistics clearly demonstrate the player's versatility in attack.

Having earned six caps for the Senegal national team, Diao's contract with Como runs until 2029; his current market value is listed at €30 million. According to reports, it is not only Galatasaray who are interested in the player; Italian giants Roma are also reported to be keeping tabs on him.
