Gasperini's triple move: Summerville, Garnacho, Moreira

Roma's attacking operation in the summer window is advancing on three fronts at once. According to the report, the Italian side have opened talks with the representatives of West Ham's Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, who travelled to Rome for a positive meeting with the club. No formal agreement has been reached with West Ham yet, but the meeting represents the clearest sign yet that Roma are taking the deal seriously.

This move is not standing alone. Having missed out on Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahce and looking to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini's attack, the Giallorossi are working on three names simultaneously. Chelsea have been offered a €5 million loan for Garnacho plus a €35 million option to buy that would become mandatory under certain performance conditions, with agent Jorge Mendes helping broker the negotiations. Strasbourg, meanwhile, have received an offer of €30 million plus a 10 percent sell-on clause for Moreira, and according to the French press the player has signed a preliminary contract.

The fee negotiation in the Summerville file is the sticking point. West Ham are reported to feel no urgent pressure to sell Summerville, whose strong World Cup performances (2 goals and assists) have only pushed his value higher. The English club's asking price is said to sit above €50 million, while Roma want to stay in the €35-40 million plus bonuses range. According to Matteo Moretto, Roma have set July 20-21 as a "make or break" date on this file.

There is also a notable development on the competition front. Manchester United had previously shown interest in Summerville worth around £50 million, but Roma accelerating their transfer work following owner Ryan Friedkin's arrival at Trigoria is read as a sign the Italian side have moved ahead in the race. Roma are also reported to be monitoring Christos Tzolis as a potential alternative.
