Following his departure from Galatasaray, questions over Mauro Icardi's next move have been answered directly by his representative. Speaking to ESPN, agent Elio Pino said the striker has no interest whatsoever in coming to Argentine football, stressing that his entire focus and goal is to remain in Europe. The comments put a firm end to recent speculation linking him with Argentine clubs such as River Plate, Racing and Newell's.
"I don't understand why for three months people have been talking about River, Racing or Newell's. We haven't spoken with anyone," Pino said, dismissing any contact with those clubs. The 33-year-old Argentine forward became a free agent after his Galatasaray contract expired and is reportedly weighing several offers. The agent also noted that Italian side Como could be an ideal destination, with the club, which finished fourth in Serie A last season and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in its history, boasting names like Cesc Fabregas and Raphael Varane.
Icardi, who spent four seasons at Galatasaray and won considerable affection from supporters, is remembered for his significant contribution to the club, including title-winning campaigns. On the next step of his career, Pino signalled a decision could come soon, saying the camp is evaluating the best option among several possibilities and could make a call at any moment.
