Inter tie down Esposito until 2031

Inter's strategy of protecting their homegrown young talent has gained another name. According to Nicolo Schira, Inter will extend young striker Pio Esposito's contract until 2031.

This is the result of a negotiation process that has run for months. Inter's management has been holding talks with the player's agent since February; according to Tuttosport, the club aimed to extend the current deal, set to expire in 2030, by an additional year while significantly increasing the player's salary.

The figures have also become clear. The 20-year-old striker, who earned around €1 million net last season, is expected to see that figure rise to around €3-4 million under the new contract.

The urgency behind Inter's move is also notable. The club's decision comes after rejecting a €40 million offer from Napoli and with Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United monitoring the player; the club's management describes Esposito as an "absolutely non-transferable" asset.

The player's family history also lends significance to this commitment. Esposito, who moved to Inter alongside his brothers Salvatore and Sebastiano from Brescia's academy and gained loan experience at Spezia, contributed 10 goals and 6 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season; he made his senior debut for Italy under Gennaro Gattuso in September 2025 and has scored three goals in five caps.
