Juventus target Kim Min-jae staying at Bayern

The course has completely changed in one of the most talked-about centre-back files of the summer. According to the exclusive report, a change of plans has taken place at Bayern Munich and Kim Min-jae is no longer viewed as a sale candidate. The sole exception is clearly defined: an extraordinary offer arriving on the table that the South Korean centre-back himself would want to accept. In the current picture, the Bavarian giants want to keep their player and are building their planning for the new season around him.

The player's side is on the same page. As previously relayed, Kim himself is not planning to leave Munich this summer and is eager to fight for his place in the squad. For the 29-year-old defender, whose contract runs until 2028, the development amounts to a complete U-turn after months of speculation.

The ground beneath the rumours had been solid. With Kim dropping into a rotation role following Jonathan Tah's arrival and finishing last season with 32 appearances across all competitions, mostly as a substitute, numerous reports had suggested he would be sold; a transfer scenario worth around €40 million involving Juventus had also come onto the agenda. On the other hand, the player's total financial package of around €15 million per year in salary and bonuses for the 2026/27 season was among the leading factors already complicating a potential sale.

Arriving from Napoli for €50 million in July 2023 and making 77 appearances in a Bayern shirt, the centre-back nicknamed "The Monster" also featured in all three of South Korea's group matches at the World Cup. With Kim's future settled at the Bundesliga and German Cup champions, clubs searching for a centre-back will need to turn their attention elsewhere.
