The Sacramento Kings have made an important decision on Zach LaVine's future amid a broader roster overhaul. According to The Sacramento Bee's Jason Anderson, the front office is actively working to trade LaVine after he exercised his player option. "LaVine has been the subject of trade rumors and speculation for the past year, but there hasn't been much of a market for his services due to the size of his contract," Anderson wrote.
With general manager Scott Perry working to reshape an aging and expensive roster, the Kings are expected to continue exploring trade possibilities for LaVine. Should they fail to find a deal before the February trade deadline, LaVine's contract will come off the books next summer, providing Sacramento with significant salary cap relief.
LaVine, who will turn 32 next season and hasn't appeared in the playoffs since 2022, is coming off a difficult campaign that saw the Kings finish 22-60, placing 14th in the Western Conference. Another offseason target for Sacramento is Mitchell Robinson, fresh off helping the New York Knicks win the 2026 NBA championship, though the Kings would need to clear cap space to sign him — potentially by trading away other pieces.
